Release Overview
The v4.2.2.4 software update is a performance enhancement update designed specifically to increase performance within Checkout and the Administration Panel of the MonsterCommerce Storefront System. The release includes a performance improvement to the MonsterCommerce Shared SSL Certificate feature. This modification will change the secure URL used for both the Storefront (Checkout) and Admin Panel access for stores using the MonsterCommerce SSL Security option. Store Admins currently using the MonsterCommerce Shared SSL for site security, or Store Admins that are unsure which option is being used, please read below.
This release does not affect stores using Dedicated SSL Certificates (Your Own SSL), stores currently using a Dedicated SSL Certificate require no changes to be made.
This document will review how to determine which type of SSL Certificate is being used, Secure URL changes within the storefront, and changes Store Admins may need to make.
How to determine if the storefront uses the MonsterCommerce Shared SSL Certificate for site security or a Dedicated SSL Certificate
Within the Site Information section of the Admin Panel homepage will be an area which is labeled as "Checkout Security". For storefronts which are using the MonsterCommerce Shared SSL this will display as "MonsterCommerce SSL". For storefronts using a Dedicated SSL Certificate this will display as "Your Own SSL".
Shared SSL Secure URL Changes
With version 4.2.2.4 the secure URL used to access areas of the Storefront and Admin Panel will change, which will affect multiple areas of the storefront.
- Admin Panel Access URL
- The URL used to access the Admin Panel will have changed to the following URL:
https://xxxxx.monstercommercesites.com/admin- (where 'xxxxx' = your account number with MonsterCommerce)
- Secure Checkout URL
- The URL displayed within Checkout will have changed. For help in linking to your Checkout pages please visit the Custom Function Calls FAQ on the Knowledge Base
- DataPort/MonsterBooks Secure URL
- The secure URL used that is used to connect with both MonsterDataPort and MonsterBooks will have changed. The secure URL is found within the Site Information section of the Admin Panel homepage, under "Secure URL for DataPort/MonsterBooks Connection"
Note: This update will not affect the Domain Name for any store, this change will only modify the secure path used to access areas of the Storefront and Admin Panel.
Store Admin Changes
Store Admins will need to check the following areas and update the secure URL where needed.
- 2Checkout "Approved URL"
- For Merchants using 2Checkout as a primary Payment Gateway, a change will need to be made within the 2Checkout account settings. Merchants will need to update the "Approved URL" link to ensure that customers are redirected correctly:
https://xxxxx.monstercommercesites.com/SiteReturn/2Checkout/2CheckoutReturn.asp- (where 'xxxxx' = your account number with MonsterCommerce)

- Browser Bookmarks
- Store Admins that have preset browser bookmarks that point directly to a secure URL within the Admin Panel will need to update these links after the update
- Storefront HTML
- Store Admins will need to check all HTML content areas within the storefront to verify that links to the storefront using the secure URL have been updated to reflect the new secure URL. These areas may include the Orders >> Order Invoice Editor, Site HTML, and Site Information >> Checkout Settings
- Third Party Links
- Store Admins will need to update any links given to Third Parties which link to the secure URL for the storefront. Examples may include, advertising, external websites, and feeds.
