With the release of MonsterCommerce software version 4.2, new requirements and validations have been put in place to ensure data integrity and consistent functionality. DataPort has been modified to adhere to these same requirements. The changes affect the following DataPort actions:
For more information on what defines a customer, see the Customer Summary QuickGuide.
With version 4.2 new data validations have been introduced for the customer record. They are as follows:
DataPort will only download Registered Customers from the Store. This means that any customer records that have been archived with the release of 4.2 will not be loaded into DataPort. To download customer records from the Store into DataPort, follow these steps:
After you have made your final touches within the Customer Preview screen, push the Upload to Store button to upload the customer records from DataPort to the Store.
Any address information for Customer records within DataPort refers to the billing address; therefore only the billing address will be updated when uploading customers to the Store. If adding a new customer record to the site using DataPort, DataPort assumes that the shipping address is the same as the billing address.
There are two ways to edit customer information within DataPort.
One is
through the main Customers tab and the other is through the Customer Preview window.
Within the main Customers tab in DataPort, the Customer records are categorized alphabetically by last name on the right side of the tab once the customer data is imported or exported into DataPort. To add a new Customer record, click the green add button and enter all of the required information, a new customer will be added.
To edit a Customer record, first find and select the Customer to be edited in the right side of the tab. The Customer information will then be populated on the left side. Every field on the left will be editable except the Last Name.
To get to the Customers Preview window, click on the Upload from DataPort to Store icon on the main customer tab of DataPort. Within the Customer Preview window, you can edit the Customer records before uploading them to the Store. Every field except the ID column can be edited in this window. You can also sort the customer records by each column header. To sort by a column header, simply click on the column header.
To edit the customer records, click on the field you wish to modify and make your changes. Once done, click on the Update Customers button on the bottom right of the screen.
Note: It is important to note that pushing the Update Customers button will not upload the records to the Store but merely updates the Customer records within the DataPort application.
Each row of Customer records is validated when uploading to the Store. If any Customer record does not meet the requirements of a valid Customer record, attempts to upload such record from DataPort will return an error on the error column of the Customer Preview window.
