Release Overview
DataPort is a desktop application installed as an executable on your desktop which is used by web storefront owners to view and modify data in your online store’s database.
In general, while using DataPort, you can download data such as product information, order information, and customer information from your online store’s database via the internet. You can then modify it in the application itself or export it to a spreadsheet file, which can then be edited in another application like Excel. The application also allows you to import bulk data, which it uploads to the storefront.
There are three sections to this document: Release Overview, New Features, and User Interface. Use the navigation links at the top or bottom of the page to browse each section.
New Functionality Added
To get all these fantastic new features you will need to download and install the new version of DataPort. The new version of DataPort handles performance and user interface issues you currently are experiencing. Some of the new DataPort features include:
- Offline Access
- Offline capabilities so that you can work with data even when not connected to the internet, save any changes, and then upload your changes to your store once connected to the internet.
- New User Interface
- A clean, manageable user interface to enhance your experience.
- New Import Wizard
- At-a-glance results when using the Import functionality of the application.
Detailed error management that gives you details on the reasons that contributed to the failure of an action.
- Template Creation
- Ability to create Import templates for all data types that support import features.
- Send/Receive Functionality
- Selective send/receive functionality that offers the option to send/receive only what you want to update to or receive from the Storefront.
- New Import & Export Formats
- Updated Export and Import formats; new export formats have been added.
- New ZIP Tax, State Tax, Province Tax Functions
- New ZIP tax, State tax, Province tax, and Discount Codes functionality that you can upload from DataPort to your store.
- Multiple Stores
- Ability to configure and manage multiple stores with an easy-to-use store configuration wizard.;
Note: Both versions of DataPort can be used on the same Desktop; however, DataPort v4.x will be discountinued as of June 17, 2006.
System Requirements
For DataPort v5.0 you will need to meet the minimum hardware and software requirements (including operating systems). For the best possible performance we recommend running above these system requirements:
