Making your online business secure and your customers safe

All MonsterCommerce clients have the option to enable 128-bit SSL security for the checkout process on their site.

MonsterCommerce clients have the option to use our shared SSL certificate or you may purchase your own from www.networksolutions.com/SSL-certificates.

Shared SSL - FREE

The MonsterCommerce shared SSL is 128-bit security. If the shared SSL is used, your checkout page's URL will appear as follows: https://AccountNumber.monstercommerce.com/
index.asp?PageAction=CARTCHECKOUT

Your free SSL will be enabled for your site as soon as your site has been created.

MonsterCommerce has Free graphics that we will provide to you to add to your site. This will show your shoppers that you have done everything to make your site and their experience safe.

Your own Network Solutions® SiteSafe™ Certificate

If you would like to purchase your own Network Solutions® SiteSafe™ SSL certificate visit www.networksolutions.com/SSL-certificates.

With your own SSL certificate the checkout page's URL for your site will appear as follows: https://www.yourdomain.com/index.asp?PageAction=CHECKOUT

Important Notes:

  • Your domain MUST be live. Do not activate security unless your domain name is active.
  • It is recommended that your domain name (DNS) be pointed to Network Solutions's servers.

To order, visit www.networksolutions.com/SSL-certificates. You will purchase your certificate directly through Network Solutions.

When purchasing your own Network Solutions® SiteSafe™ SSL certificate, you are provided a Secure Site Seal. This seal features High Visibility and it is difficult to duplicate. This seal is great because it shows your visitors that you have made every effort to make your site and their experience secure.

Your shoppers will be able to click the Secure Site Seal to see a summary of your certificate details.

Is it possible to use one certificate for multiple domain names?

No, an SSL certificate is for a specific host at a specific domain like www.yourdomain.com. If you try to use a certificate on one sub domain when it was issued for another, your visitors' browsers will warn them that the site name does not match the certificate and ask if they want to abort the connection.

SSL

WarnThe name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site.

Your customers will get the alert if your certificate is assigned to http://www.yourdomain.com but they come to the site as http://yourdomain.com

If you purchase your own SSL, you will want to ensure that all advertisements and links to your site reference the same domain name that the certificate is issued.

This will turn shoppers away from your site, as they will have the impression that your site is not secure.
