Summary

This QuickGuide will focus on the functionality of the Checkout Conversion Report. The Checkout Conversion Report allows a Store Admin to track, for a specific checkout settings combination, how many times checkout is entered versus the number of complete orders received. To access the report, log in to the Admin Panel and navigate to Reports >> Conversion Reports >> Checkout Conversion Report. The store admin can determine from this report which checkout setting combination yields the highest number of completed orders over a specified period of time.

How to generate a Checkout Conversion Report?

The Checkout Conversion Report is defaulted to show the data for the current day. However, the store admin can generate a report for a date range of his choosing. To generate a Checkout Conversion Report for a specific date range, enter the start date and the end date on the top of the page and click Update Report.

What are the different checkout setting combinations?

The Checkout Conversion Reports allows a store admin to track the number started checkouts versus the number of complete orders against a specific checkout setting combination. The checkout setting combinations are based on the following three settings:

  • Shared or Own SSL
  • 2-Step or 4-Step Checkout
  • Login Page Displayed or No Login Page Displayed (This is determined by the setting Allow Registered Users within Checkout >> Checkout Setting >> Global Settings tab.)

With the above three settings, a total of eight checkout setting combinations can be derived:

  • Shared SSL, 4-Step, Login Page Displayed
  • Shared SSL, 4-Step, No Login Page
  • Shared SSL, 2-Step, Login Page Displayed
  • Shared SSL, 2-Step, No Login Page
  • Your Own SSL, 4-Step, Login Page Displayed
  • Your Own SSL, 4-Step, No Login Page
  • Your Own SSL, 2-Step, Login Page Displayed
  • Your Own SSL, 2-Step, No Login Page

The Store Admin can use these combinations and the data collected to find out which checkout settings for their site will yield the maximum number of completed orders.

What information does the Checkout Conversion Report collect?

The Checkout Conversion Report collects the following for each checkout setting combination:

# Started Checkout
This is the number of times that checkout has been entered. It will increment by 1 each time someone clicks checkout from the shopping cart.
# Orders Placed
This is the number of complete orders received. It will increment by 1 each time an order is placed successfully on the site. Please note that all PayPal orders are considered complete regardless of the transaction status within PayPal.
%
This is the percentage rate of completed orders versus the number of started checkouts. It is calculated by dividing the number of orders placed by the number of started checkouts and multiply by 100.
Analysis
This is the breakdown of the started checkouts for a specific checkout setting combination. Clicking on the Analysis icon will open a pie graph showing how many checkouts resulted in complete orders, how many checkouts resulted in failed orders, and how many abandoned checkouts at each step.

Aggregate Converted Carts Graph

The Aggregate Converted Carts graph within the Checkout Conversion Reports shows the total number of started checkouts versus the number completed orders over a range of time. The height of each bar represents the total number of checkouts, and the green section of each bar represents the number of completed orders in that time.

The X-axis of the graph is divided by a range of time. The division changes based on the date range chosen. The following table shows how the X-axis is divided based on the date range.

Date Range X-axis Division
Under 2 days By Hours
Under 2 months By Days
Under 13 months By Weeks
Above 13 months By Months

Checkout Settings Conversion Analysis

The Checkout Settings Conversion Analysis is a pie graph representing the breakdown of the total number of checkouts for a specific checkout setting combination. Each slice on the pie graph represents a particular checkout result. For example, the green slice represents the percentage of total checkouts that resulted in completed orders; the red slice represents the percentage of total checkouts that resulted in failed orders; the yellow slice represents the percentage of total checkouts that abandoned checkout at the Login step.

Then next to Export Current Report to CSV, click on Create File. This will create the CSV on the site for download. Finally, click on the Download File link that appeared to save the CSV to the local desktop.
