Summary

MonsterDataPort v5.0

DataPort allows you to import simple variants and personalization questions via the Multi-line Import option. This guide will show you how to export, import, add, change and remove a simple variant or personalization.

What is required to use the Multi-line Import option

  • DataPort v5.1
  • The Product DataPort ID field must be populated.

Export Simple Variants/Personalization Questions

To export a simple variant or personalization question, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to DataPort.
  2. Go to Products tab.
  3. Click Export.
  4. From the Select Export Template field, click the
    drop-down button and select Multiline.
  5. Click Export.

Note: If you have Use Adv Variants checked in the Variants tab of the Product editor and one or more of the combinations have changed, the existing Advanced variant information will be deleted and re-created from the information in the CSV file when you Import.

Import a Simple Variant/Personalization Question

To add/change a simple variant or personalization question in your CSV file and import the changes to DataPort, complete the following steps:

Note: If you choose to import a simple variant on a product, the import will override any current variant data and replace it with the data from the CSV file.

  1. Open the saved CSV file with the variants you exported from DataPort.
  2. Add a new line item for each variant you wish to add, or make any changes to current variant information, including removing unneeded line items in the CSV file.
  3. Save and close the CSV file.
  4. From the Product List screen in DataPort, select Import.
  5. Select MultiLine from the drop-down list
  6. Click Open button to select the CSV file to import.
  7. Click Next. The import will now run.

Once the import is complete, the Product Import page appears. As you can see, the fields are empty in the right hand column. You will need to map the fields from your Import sheet to the DataPort Fields in the Map Fields section.

  1. Click the drop-down button for the first field in the right column to display the list of field names from your Import sheet.
  2. Select the field that maps to (in other words, is equal to) the appropriate DataPort field in the left column.
  3. Continue for each field you want to import until all fields have been mapped. (You may have to scroll down to see all of the fields.)
  4. Click at the top of the screen to finish the import process.

You can now review the updated information in DataPort. Apply these same steps to add/change a personalization question.

Note: If you have Use Adv Variants checked in the Variants tab of the Product editor and one or more of the combinations have changed, the existing Advanced variant information will be deleted and re-created from the information in the CSV file when you Import.
