Signing Up

UPS Online® Tools can add powerful functionality to your web site. As of June 16, 2006 you must complete the UPS Access & Registration process to enable UPS real-time rates on your site.
UPS
Online® Tools can benefit your business by:

  • Improving customer service by streamlining your ordering and shipping processes
  • Lowering costs by reducing returns and customer support phone calls
  • Empowering buyers by allowing them choose their shipping options
  • Allowing your customers to view and compare UPS shipping options without ever leaving your site
  • Allowing you to tailor your pickup options so rates returned to the customers are more accurate

Follow the steps to register for the UPS Online® Tools feature.

  1. Navigate to Checkout >> Shipping >> UPS Online® Tools.
  2. Click the Register UPS Online® Tools button.
    This will take you to the License Agreement page.
  3. On the License Agreement page, select the option for Yes, I do agree. after reading and click Next.
    You will then be presented with the Contact Information page.
  4. Enter all required contact information and click Next.
    The information entered on this page includes Contact Name, Title, Company Name, Street Address, Street Address2, City, State/Province, Country, Postal Code, Phone Number Email Address, Company URL, and UPS Account Number. All of these fields are required except Street Address2 and UPS Account Number.

Note: You are not required to setup a UPS Account to register for UPS. All information will be saved for you through the Admin Panel.

After completing the previous steps, the message “Registration Successful!” will be displayed. By clicking the Next button on this page, you will be taken to the Status & Settings page.


Status & Settings Page

Status

The Status & Settings page tells you if your UPS Online® Tools connection is currently active. This page also lets you select your settings and reset your connection if your UPS information has changed.

Rates & Service

Rates & Service allows you to choose a service type that best suits your business needs. The service type you choose will affect the rates that are returned to your customers. The following is a list of UPS Service Types available in the Admin Panel.

Daily Pickup
A UPS driver will come to your location each day (weekly service charge applies).
Occasional Shipper
Merchant should have their own account number, and it is the responsibility of the Merchant to drop the package into the UPS system.
Suggested Retail Rates
Merchant pays for the shipments at the UPS store (the label is actually created at the UPS Store or UPS Customer Counter).

Time in Transit

Time in Transit is the estimated time, in days, that it will take UPS to deliver the package. If enabled, this is displayed on the storefront in the side cart, when viewing cart details, and when going through checkout. Time in Transit can be disabled at any time.

Resetting your Connection

You will need to reset your connection to keep your information current if the information you've provided to UPS has changed or if your UPS account has expired.

Reset Connection Button

To reset your connection just click the Reset Connection button located on the Status & Settings page. By clicking this button you will have to follow the steps mentioned previously in this QuickGuide under the Signing Up section. This includes agreeing to the license agreement and entering your contact information.
