When your customer is finished shopping on your site and selects Google's checkout option, they will be redirected to Google's secure checkout page, outside of your shopping cart.

The following steps will occur:

  1. Customer clicks on the Google Checkout button in your shopping cart.
  2. Customer is redirected to Google's secure checkout page.
  3. Customer logs into Google with their account. If they do not have a Google account, they will be prompted to set one up.
  4. Customer can review the shopping cart detail, available shipping options and prices, and sales tax estimate.

  5. Checkout and Order Review on Google

  6. Customer can select a different payment type, shipping method, or shipping address by clicking on the change link next to the appropriate information.
  7. Note: Only custom shipping methods will be displayed since Google does not support real time shipping. If you do not have custom shipping set up in your Admin panel, your customers will not see any shipping methods displayed. The order will go through without selecting a shipping method, and it will be your responsibility to work with your customer to find the correct shipping method for the customer's needs.

  8. Customer may also enter a Gift certificate or coupon code, if applicable, by clicking on the following link: Enter a coupon or gift card link

  9. Customer clicks "Place your order now" button.

  10. Place your order now button

  11. Google verifies the customer's credit card for the amount of the order and will send a confirmation email to the customer and will also send your storefront the information needed to complete the transaction on your site.
  12. Note: If a gift certificate is used in Google Checkout checkout, the value will be verified with the store's current information. If the value of the Gift Certificate is determined to be less than the purchase price and no other payment was offered, the order will be cancelled in Google and will display in the Order Editor with a status of "Not Finalized".

Note: If you normally send out confirmation emails for orders received, any customer using the Google Checkout Checkout option will get two confirmation emails: one from Google, and one from your store.

When the transaction is complete and the confirmation appears on the Google page, the customer will have the option to either continue working in Google if desired, or click the link displayed to exit Google and return to your storefront.
