With the addition of PayPal Website Payments Pro several changes were made to the Online Payment Manager found under Checkout >> Online Payment Manager. This QuickGuide will explain these modifications. The Checkout Settings page was also updated to include new PayPal Express Checkout payment process. For more information on those new options see the Checkout Settings QuickGuide.
The first change a Store Admin will notice is the display of Current Gateway and Current PayPal Solution. This will tell the Admin which Payment Gateway, if any, is currently enabled and which PayPal Solution (Standard or Express Checkout), if any, is currently enabled.
PayPal Direct Payment has been added to the list of available Payment Gateways. This allows customers who do not have a PayPal account to make a payment to a PayPal Business account. PayPal Direct Payment allows merchants to accept all major payment types, including PayPal, while working with a single provider that processes and manages all their online payments.
Note: PayPal Direct Payment cannot be enabled unless PayPal Express Checkout is enabled.
This section allows the Admin to enable or disable PayPal Standard and PayPal Express Checkout. The PayPal Express Checkout Settings are very similar to the settings of other Real-Time Payment options. Payment Type, Sort Order, Description, and Order Confirmation Message fields all work the same way as the other payment options. The field for Header Image URL allows an Admin to specify an image that will be displayed to the customer when they are taken to the PayPal Express Checkout. This is a good way to increase your customer's confidence and provide reassurance that their payment is going to the correct store.
Note: PayPal Express Checkout and PayPal Standard cannot be enabled at the same time.
The setting Enable Gift Certificate Payments has been moved to the Gift Certificate Settings section.
